Sonography is a new entrant in the field of Anaesthesiology but has already established its place. Since there is real time monitoring of the nerve block hence safety and success of the block is ensured. There has been a resurgence of regional anaesthesia and increased focus on the relevant anatomy in the last 8-10 years because of the introduction of sonography.

Interventional Perioperative Sonography Association” (IPSA) is a society registered under  “Societies Registration Act XXI of 1960 vide registration no Society/west/2015/8901565  and consists of a group of anaesthesiologists who wish to pursue excellence and safety in the field of regional anaesthesia.

MISSION of IPSA- Providing framework and skill set to anesthesiologist to safely and effectively conduct regional anesthesia and manage pain

The Aims and objects for which the Society is established are as under:

i)       To promote exchanges of knowledge and foster collaboration among different specialty Groups (as defined in the Articles of Association) who are interested in the research and management of Interventional Ultrasound Guided procedures in the perioperative period, critical care and pain management.

ii)       To promote training and continued education in the field of Interventional ultrasound guided procedures in the perioperative period, critical care and Pain management

iii)      To promote public education and knowledge of Interventional ultrasound guided procedures in the perioperative period, critical care and Pain management by spreading awareness through print and other media.

iv)      To promote research in the science, practice and development of techniques and technologies by conducting courses and studies related to the use of ultrasound in the management of patient care during the perioperative period, in intensive care units and management of both acute and chronic pain.

vi)      To advise relevant local and regional agencies, organizations and institutions in the practice of Interventional ultrasound guided procedures in the perioperative period, critical care and pain management.

vii)     To organize, promote and sponsor scientific events, seminars and conduct workshops   on the advances of Interventional ultrasound guided procedures in the perioperative period, critical care and pain management
